This is a different version of our best selling real ale chutney – we have swapped the apricots for cranberries. We partner with local micro and craft breweries to make our ale chutneys with locally produced ales. The result is a fruity chutney with a lovely flavour that makes this a perfect accompaniment for turkey, cheeses and a selection of cold meats. This makes is a perfect partner for Boxing Day lunch, but don’t only eat this once a year – Boxing day chutney is for life, not just for Christmas!
Chutney originates from India and is made from combining fruit or vegetable with spices, an acid and a sweetener. Rather than sugar, the main preservative in chutneys is vinegar. All of our chutneys take several hours to cook and should be allowed to mature for at least six weeks before eating to allow the flavours to blend and mellow, producing the characteristic rich fruity flavour. We use granulated or soft brown cane sugar in all of our chutneys and do not add any artificial flavours, preservatives or sweeteners.
Our chutneys have a best before date one year from the date of production and will be fine kept in a cupboard, larder or other cool, dark, dry place for many months; once opened they should be refrigerated and used within 3-4 weeks.
